Where we work in Bloomsbury

Our Bloomsbury round covers the squares and the terraces between them: Bedford Square, Russell Square, Gordon and Tavistock Squares, Queen Square and Great Ormond Street, out to Lamb's Conduit Street and across to Museum Street.

Most of the residential stock is a flat rather than a house. Georgian terraces converted floor by floor, Edwardian mansion blocks with a porter and a service stair, and a smaller number of whole houses still in single occupation near the quieter squares.

What makes Bloomsbury different to clean

A great deal of it is listed or in a conservation area, and the fabric shows it. Original joinery, lime plaster, stone stairs and early glass are normal here, and they are precisely the surfaces that general-purpose products damage. The checklist records the material in each room rather than a guess at it.

Mansion blocks have their own etiquette. The service stair, the lift and the hours a contractor may use them are usually set by the managing committee rather than by the flat, and we confirm those before the first visit instead of discovering them on it.

Books and paper are everywhere in this area, more than anywhere else we work. Dusting around a working library is a different job from dusting a room, and what is handled and what is left alone goes in the checklist in writing.

Access, parking and keys

Bloomsbury sits inside the Congestion Charge zone: £18 a day since 2 January 2026, Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and noon to 6pm at weekends. It is inside the ULEZ. Both sit inside your monthly figure.

Parking is Camden controlled rather than Westminster, and the hours differ street by street. We work on the assumption that there is nowhere to leave a vehicle and arrive on foot or by a single drop.

Where a block has a porter, access is arranged and signed through them. Where you would prefer us to hold keys, we can.
