Private Housekeeping in Marylebone

Marylebone works to two clocks. A large part of it is residential above something else (consulting rooms on Harley Street and Wimpole Street, offices and shops along the High Street) and a housekeeping schedule here has to fit around whatever is happening downstairs.

Where we work in Marylebone

Our Marylebone round runs from Portman Square and Montagu Square in the west, through Manchester Square and the streets around the High Street, to Cavendish Square and the Harley Street grid in the east.

We work Bryanston and Gloucester Squares on the Portman Estate, the mansion blocks on the quieter side streets off Marylebone Road, and the smaller flats above Chiltern Street and Marylebone Lane. Devonshire Place, Weymouth Street and Wimpole Street are regular ground, where consulting rooms and private flats frequently share a staircase.

What we are cleaning

Marylebone's stock is more uniform than its neighbours' and more mixed in use.

The Georgian terraces are the backbone, brick-fronted, four and five storeys, laid out on the Portman and Howard de Walden estates from the eighteenth century onward and remarkably intact. A great many are now in multiple occupation: a clinic on the lower floors, flats above, one staircase serving both. The specification has to be explicit about where our remit ends, and we put that in writing before a first visit.

The mansion blocks are the second strand, solid, well-portered, with service lifts and the usual booking arrangements.

The third is the converted upper floors: flats formed out of what were once bedrooms and attics, often with original joinery and sash windows, almost always without a lift. These are small jobs done to a high standard, and the constraint is access rather than scale.

Marylebone Road itself produces the dirt. Properties along the northern edge of the round need sills, frames and glazing attended to noticeably more often than those four streets south.

Access, parking and keys

Marylebone sits inside the Congestion Charge zone, Marylebone Road forms its northern boundary, and effectively all of our round lies south of it. The charge has been £18 a day since 2 January 2026, Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and noon to 6pm at weekends, with electric vehicles now paying a discounted rate. It sits inside your retainer.

Westminster's controlled parking applies Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 6:30pm, and the borough runs no visitor permit scheme, so our teams carry a daily trade permit where one is needed.

In shared buildings we work to the building's rules rather than our own: agreed arrival times, the right entrance, and where a practice operates below, visits scheduled outside consulting hours as a matter of course rather than on request.

Services in Marylebone

  • Private housekeeping. Retained, weekly through daily, with a named housekeeper and a named deputy.
  • Deep cleaning. Seasonal, and before a house is returned to. Descaling is most of the work in London.
  • After-builders cleaning. Three stages, worked to your contractor's programme. One clean at the end always fails.
  • Textile and upholstery care. Silk, wool and antique, tested before treated, and referred on where it should be.
  • Move-in and move-out. Worked against the check-in report, because that is the document a dispute is decided on.
