Where we work in Paddington

Our Paddington round runs from the Basin and Merchant Square across to Sussex Gardens, Norfolk Square and the streets behind Praed Street, and up to the Westway. We work the serviced and owner-occupied apartments in the newer blocks alongside the conversions and small hotels in the older terraces.

The new blocks are glass, engineered stone and integrated appliances, with a concierge and a service lift. The older stock is stucco, timber sash and whatever was fitted during the last conversion. Both are routine for us; they simply want different products and different access arrangements.

What makes Paddington different to clean

Glass is the whole job in the newer buildings. A lateral apartment with floor-to-ceiling glazing shows every mark in low winter sun, and the internal face is cleaned on a schedule rather than when somebody notices. The external face is the building's responsibility and we say so rather than quietly leave it.

Engineered stone is not marble and should not be treated as it. A great deal of avoidable damage in new-build kitchens comes from someone using an acidic or abrasive product on a quartz worktop. The checklist records the material, not a guess at it.

Short-let turnover is common around the station. Where a flat is let out between owner stays, the work is closer to a move-in clean than a routine visit, and we price and schedule it that way rather than pretending otherwise.

Access, parking and keys

Paddington sits outside the Congestion Charge zone, which stops at the Edgware Road, and inside the ULEZ. Westminster parking controls run Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 6:30pm.

The newer blocks have a loading bay and a service lift, and access is through the concierge with a signed-in pass. We arrange that before the first visit rather than on the morning.

The older terraces have neither. Those visits are on foot, and equipment comes up the stair by hand, which affects how long a first deep clean takes and what we can sensibly bring.
